I am more acquainted with Othello and the Snow Queen than with Chtulhu, Yog-Sothoth, et consortes. When the Lovecraft trend reached Spain two or three years ago, I didn't have a clue about the gods of the Lovecraftverse. So I read a few of his stories, and upon these stories I base my humble opinion.
The Lovecraftian gods are poweful abominations from outer space, much more involved in the fate of Earth that the God of Christianity. That's what makes the stories so epic and, at the same time, so tangled. I definitely prefer Shakespeare and fairy tales.
