RECIPE FOR STONE SOUP

STONE SOUP
1 tiny limestone pebble
3 gallons of water
1 tin can of Quaker oats
2 pints of milk
4 middle-sized carrots
4 middle-sized mealy potatoes
1 packet of bacon
1 tablespoon of butter
1 pinch of salt

I. Put the water on the fire to boil.
II. Add the pebble right after putting the water on the fire.
III. When the water boils, add the oats.
IV. After the oats, add the milk.
VI. Cut the carrots, potatoes, and bacon.
VII. After the milk, add the carrots, potatoes, and bacon.
VIII. Then, add the butter and the pinch of salt.
IX. Leave the soup to cool.
X. Once the soup has cooled, fish the pebble up from the bottom of the pot to make future batches of stone soup (for it ain't stone soup without the stone!)
