DE PRINCESSES ET DE RÊVES FERMÉS

(The title means "Of Princesses and Closed Dreams" in French, a frequent gratuitous language in Go Princess PreCure).

So, today I have finally, and full of elation, ringed in the new Pretty Cure season:
Go Princess Pretty Cure. It IS comparable to DokiDoki in that it 's subversive just like DokiDoki was subversive, so I'm having great expectations of Go Princess because of the following:

Noble Academy seen from within, from without, and from above.
What do you think of such a setting for a magical girl warrior series?

The setting: for once, the setting, Noble Academy, is a castle-like boarding school compound on an island, surrounded by lush gardens and pristine wilderness. I LOVE the idea of a hinterland compound/campus setting as well as that of an upper-class setting. Believe me... such a backdrop... It's like Hogwarts combined with Ever After High, Highgarden, and Redstone College (squee!!!). There are the faculty and two dorms, one for girls and another for boys. Aside from a pool, a harbour for sailboats, a library, and many rarities more. The architecture is baroque, neo-Romantic and art nouveau: my three favourite styles! There is even a ballroom in each dormitory, for hosting society events. The female students are taught, for example, ballet (and I bet my life the male ones are taught fencing, for example).

The pets: this time, a (female) spaniel called Puff and a (male) cockatoo called Aroma who are siblings (NOT KIDDING!) A third pet, a cat called Madame Shamour, will also appear.

A Close-up of our general known as Close (yes, that's his name! No joke either!)

The gender-elusive Shut looks like my favourite general right from the start.
(By the way, my favourite from Happiness Charge was Hosshiiwa, and from DokiDoki was Regina!)
I wondered whether Shut, with that freaking smart physique and attire,
is a male or a female Dysdark.
Shut is actually male. And he appears to be gay to the core, flamboyant as he is!
Besides, my favourite general Shut appears to be the evil counterpart to my favourite Cure Minami/Mermaid (the opening had them fighting each other, according to counterpart combat coordination, which we also saw in DokiDoki, for instance Ira vs. Rikka and Mamo vs. Alice).
If Shut and Minami ever fight a battle in the series, I will let you know as well!
Shut is actually male. And he appears to be gay to the core, flamboyant as he is!

Lastly, there's Lock, the cutest of all three generals.
The first impression gave me the vibe of a Dysdark Tyrion Lannister
who plays video games instead of reading books.
This second impression gave me the vibe of a Peter Pan-like eternal child who
can't and won't grow up.
The last impression has shown me that he is
the reincarnation of Joffrey in a kitsch devil suit!!!

The generals of the evil empire: they will be referred to as the Three Musketeers and look like... Close looks like a member of KISS, the other two like a flamboyant drag queen and a fusion of Peter Pan and Tyrion Lannister respectively, or at least so they appear in the opening (they're framed in shadows, so we have only seen glimpses of the other two), and they will answer to the names of Close, Shut, and Lock (does anyone sense a pattern)? They belong to a species called Dysdarks, that look like dark elves with pale skin and pointy ears (so cool!) These villains in black and purple look as ominous as those in DokiDoki!!! So far, we've seen Close, and he is as scary as can be. Shut is flamboyant. Lock is immature. I bet my life these three have good chemistry. These are THE BEST GENERALS I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A PRETTY CURE SERIES!

First, Close opens a hole in Yui Nanase's chest,
as she falls into shock and gets mind-control eyes.

Then, he looks into Yui's heart and sees her dream through the hole he's made:
to become a fairytale author and illustrator.
Close says that this dream is worthless.

Close throws a padlock at Yui's heart hole while he shouts: "CLOSE YOUR DREAM!!!"
(If this is his catchphrase, what will Shut and Lock say, respectively?)

Yui with her dream Closed, unconscious behind bars
(those cages are called "dream doors"),
as her disembodied dream runs rampant through the woods.

When purified, the Desporg which protected the dreamless and encased victim says "Dreaming..."
Now, all you have to do is open the dream door with your transformation key.
And only then, the victim will be free and regain her dream.

The monsters: made from human victims like I like them! This time, the MO involves literally looking into people's hearts and sealing their dreams away by throwing black shield-shaped padlocks at their chests, locking the unconscious muggles in padlocked purple cages known as dream doors, as their disembodied dreams became so-called Desporgs. If a Cure, after defeating the Desporg, puts her transformation key in the keyhole of the dream door's padlock... the victim will be saved and regain his/her dream (In Yui Nanase's case, becoming a fairytale writer and/or illustrator).
The motive why? Close says that Yui had a worthless dream... so are the Dysdarks planning to purge the world of dreams? And for which reason? I can't wait to find out!
And yes, I still freaking miss the jikochus'/selfcenters' creation by perverting an impulsive wish (general whispers in left ear: "I WILL MAKE YOUR WISH COME TRUE!", snaps fingers, victim's black heart bursts out of chest).

Kanata as a kawaii lilac-haired royal child in a flashback
Young adult (present-day) Kanata. So dashing!

The love interest: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Kanata of the Hope Kingdom, a lilac-haired piece of rarity with smart wing-like epaulettes on his shoulders and a classy ruby cravat to match. And he's good and kind... The best Precure love interest so far!!!

Teal-haired class president Minami finding her power key.

The heroines: more like those of DokiDoki, these three do look like teens rather than preteens. My favourite so far is Minami Kaido, the teal-haired mermaid- and ocean-themed Princess Cure, and the student body president. She looks so cool and clever! She's actually a learned and athletic model student, and a skilled ballerina as well. And of wealthy descent... (Though she's not the de facto leader, I see that she is a born good leader) I hope that, like DokiDoki, this season centers equally on all of the Cures and not merely on one of them.

A ruby-eyed and masked dark magical girl with pointy ears,
who plays the violin and controls blue fire, appears in the opening credits.
Her name is Twilight.
She is most likely to be pre-coat-turn Scarlet.

I see, in the opening, a dark magical girl with pale skin, silver hair, ruby eyes, and pointy ears, who wears a ruby mask and plays the violin. She seems to have control over blue flames (I totally agree that she looks elegantly badass, as well as that she could be the lovechild of Aerys II and Galadriel or Azula!!!)
There will be a fourth heroine, Cure Scarlet, a fire princess whom I expect to be that dark magical girl who will turn over to the bright side and become an aloof ally: combining my two favourite types of magical warrior. I freaking LOVE dark magical girls and aloof allies because they're cool, mysterious, mature, badass, smart, and, especially, cultured and/or learned.

The ending: this time it takes place in a baroque ballroom, and the lyrics have some delicious French words in them!!!

The episode title cards... in this series, they're art nouveau stainglass windows (squeee!!!)!!!!
