CHRISTMAS WITH THE KAIDOS

Go!Princess Precure - Episode 45

My Own Review

CHRISTMAS WITH THE KAIDOS

A KAIDO CHILDHOOD SUMMER

SHUT'S ULTIMATUM

A shattered mirror allegedly brings seven years of misfortune.
So is this a bad omen for Shut?

MEANWHILE IN THE HOPE KINGDOM...

XMAS IS HERE, BRING IN THE CHEER!

Reiko oohs and aahs over the adorable spaniel, obviously.

Towa's theme colour being scarlet, she looks great in a Santa dress...

Ah, Kirara, as savvy as ever...
Besides, now we notice how sexy her Santa décollété is... a décollété worn with a choker...

THAT IS THE QUESTION

SHUT, THE CORNERED RATTLER

Let it go... let it go... can't hold it back anymore...

Here I stand... in the light of day...

...let the storm rage on...

...the cold never bothered me anyway...
CURE MERMAID:
(Just had to set Minami's ice power use to this song. 'Cause she reminds me of Elsa...)

On to Grand Printemps:

This time, as expected, it was Cure Mermaid who said "gokigenyó" ("have a nice day").

THE MOMENT OF TRUTH

So Wataru drives his little sis downtown and into the park, where there is a huge Christmas tree. This is where the Kaidos have arranged their festive rendezvous.

Tears of pain, tears of joy,
one thing nothing can destroy
is our pride deep inside,
we are one...

Best Winter Wishes from the Kaido Group!

MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION

On Xmas at Noble Academy: Why didn't Mrs. Shirogane scrap that white 'tache and appear as Mrs. Claus? She looks tailormade for the part (A far better Santa was, IMOHO, the one at the Thénardiers' inn, who was seen engaging in intercourse with a woman of devious morals). And Movember was a month ago. Anyway, winter holidays at NA are like those at Hogwarts without the literal Yuletide magic. There is metaphorical magic, however, in the spirit of Christmas that pervades everyone's mood.

On Ranko's umbrella shtick: I'm a terrible juggler myself, aside from physically looking like something in between Ranko, Seira, and Brienne. Love how at least she (Ranko, whom else?) popped on a stage once more. In the future, if there is a decade-into-the-future epilogue, I hope her dreams of stardom come true (and also that she dies young, due to substance excess, ere her star fades away: just like Kurt, Amy, and other pop legends)...

On Seira the Red-Nosed Reindeer: We love the dark bifauxnen
at Noble Academy,
who appeared dressed in a reindeer suit,
on stage, cheerful as can be.
Seira wants to be a show host,
she's got panache and élan,
and we love her self-confidence,
and short hair if she were a man...
Then this cheerful Christmas Eve,
Seira Azuma shines again...
you may hiss at her reindeer suit,
but we costume lovers don't give a hoot!
Oh, how this writer loves her,
singing presently with glee:
"Seira, the Red-Nosed Reindeer...
you'll go down in history!!!"

On the Kaido Group society Christmas: Everyone looks smart for Christmas if they are socialites, and the Kaido clan are no exceptions. (Even though Wataru sometimes looks slightly flamboyant...)

On Minami's expectations: after so many tears, after so much doubting how to tell her parents of the decision she has made to follow her heart and care about the environment... it turns out that the Kaidos want her to be happy. To be herself. No longer what she is, but who she is. No longer a Kaido, but Minami. To follow her heart, instead of tradition. Love how she resolved her inner conflict. Tsukasa and Masumi are elated by her confession, and their daughter... let us say she has crossed her personal Rubicon safe and sound. Everyone raise a glass to such a turning point and to Minami Kaido!
Loved how her mum dried up her tears, making this yet another heartwarming mother-to-daughter Kaido moment to cherish... Awwww... <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

On the deliverance of the Ocean Castle: After the Flame Castle and Star Castle, yet another HK outpost is free from Dysdark rule and its rainbow appears in the now light blue day sky. Which means that the Flower Castle and the Royal Palace the two last Dysdark strongholds in the occupied kingdom.

On Shut: Napoleon felt it at Waterloo, Tilly at Breitenfeld, Charles XII at Poltava, and now Shut is experiencing the same feelings. Insecurity, doubts, fear of defeat and of dishonour and of discredit. And, following this defeat in particular, he has fallen from grace. Definitely. With such an ultimatum, he has behaved like a cornered rattler on the battlefield this week, fighting until the bitter end. Shut is the only one to be not in a festive mood (at least, Minami and her family showed some Xmas spirit). Loved Shut's never-give-up attitude, and the pace at which his character arc is unfurling right now. Coat turn is coming... But before that, he will have to confront the dark side which he has been repressing so far. And NEXT EPISODE will hopefully continue this turning point in Shut's character arc... Now cashiered from the ranks of the Dysdark court, Shut is probably going all "who am I?" with an identity crisis like that of Jean Valjean... Shut Valshut, anyone?

IN NEXT EPISODE - 46

IT'S A SHUT-CENTRIC EPISODE!!!
In which we will follow Shut after his fall from grace. Which way will the Mad Hatter go now? Towards the light? Or his own way? For how long will our favourite male character in this series waver?

The Student Council appear to have a great winter plan going on...

Yuki "Roland" and Kenta "Romeo" are eager to give a helping hand.

Towa somehow falls into a state of shock.

Shut, fallen from grace and without a purpose in life, just keeps on running...

...and now he's become brooding and wayward, a true Byronic character.

He lashes out at the Precures... Don't tell me he'll become Shutverine!!

Wandering Shut: coming soon to a fansub page near you.
