DYSPEAR UNMASKED

Go!Princess Precure - Episode 49 - Finale Part II

My Own Review

DYSPEAR UNMASKED

In last episode, Noble Academy was turned to a Dysdark fortress, while all of its students and staff were imprisoned and used to power comeback Lock.
However, they were all freed by wannabe illustrator and token muggle teammate Yui Nanase. The Precures were thus enabled to defeat the wicked enemy.
Now begins the moment we all have been waiting for: The Dysdarks' last stand and the revelation of their backstory...

Noble Academy is still the Dysdark main fortress...

DYSPEAR: Come to me, my dear servant.

CLOSE (ecstatic): Yes, Your Ladyship...

DYSPEAR (embracing him): Return to me, Close.
CLOSE: Your Ladyship...

She embraces Close as Closely as she can, absorbing him in the process...
Wait! Does that mean she <3s that punk that much?

STOP: Let's assume...
FREEZE: ...our real forms.

Dyspear, now unmasked, becomes a kudzu titan.
On Stop & Freeze, their Real Forms: Stop is the silver one and Freeze the golden one. Now they're revealed to be cyclopean and shark-toothed sapient tangles of Dysdark kudzu.

The Precures realize that Dyspear has absorbed Close.

DYSPEAR: Foolish Princess Cures, you think you can stop me? There's no way to destroy something that has always been present, with dreams there is always despair and darkness, how do you think I could take over the Hope Kingdom?

DYSPEAR: I am desperation itself! The subjects of the Hope Kingdom even failed in some of their dreams and eventually that despair formed a forest of thorns in the land of dreams and eventually I came to be! As long as there are dreams, there will always be despair!

Kirara's whole crew, including Ryouko and Rinrin, are now in the body count.

And Stella as well. Which will piss off and encourage her daughter...

KANATA: Dyspear, how far do you intend to go?

DYSPEAR: Everything is useless. My despair knows no limits. My vines will cover everything.
The Dysdark despair kudzu shoots up beyond the Pacific waters...

DYSPEAR: There is nothing left on Earth. Not even dreams. Now the only thing you can do is fall into despair.

The whole Earth is soon under Dysdark control.

The Door of Despair opens on Dyspear's genitals (what's with this innuendo? What would Freud have said?) and absorbs the millions of dreams of the trapped Earthlings. The Precures and other denizens of Noble Academy are the sole survivors.

KURORO (LOCK): I'm Kuroro, and now, thanks to Lock, I have control over myself.
SHUT: Even beings born from despair can find a new way and dreams to fight for. Carry on, Precures!

TOWA (kindly): Thank you, Shut, Kuroro.

CURE SCARLET (tears of joy in her eyes): We finally made it!!

All of the seventeen Dress-Up Keys soar up in midair, form a circle (with Kanata's white Key in the middle), and fuse into one...

...the golden Grand Key shown in the opening credits.

OPEN... THE DOOR TO DREAMS!!
PRECURE GRANDE LIBÉRATION!!

MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION:

On the whole Dysdark backstory: Definitely, I was waiting for this moment all along. The one where the whole Dysdark story would come to light. Now it's official: Dyspear is the despair of the Hope Kingdom, personified. The darkness of this despair turned into thorny vines, and the vines fused together and attained humanoid form. That was the origin of Her Ladyship. But... Then... how would the cadres fit in? They're most likely (still unconfirmed) to be other spirits, created by Dyspear, possessing convenient HK denizens. Vox Shut (Shut's own words) confirms they were created out of personified despair as well. Though each and every one of them is now following their hearts...

On Stop & Freeze, their True Forms: Stop is the silver one and Freeze the golden one. Now they're revealed to be cyclopean and shark-toothed sapient tangles of Dysdark kudzu.
On every student at Noble Academy getting a Key of their own...
Definitely, Seira et consortes needed one Key each.

NOT TO MENTION RANKO HERSELF!!!
Definitely, the shards of the crystal rods and the Scarlet Violin becoming Golden Keys in their hands was worth gold. Thus, everyone at NA had a part to play in this exciting, thrilling final stand.
At first, she appeared to be a coward, but her real worth shone through.

And that because of their words of encouragement when all was ostensibly lost.

On Shut and Lock/Kuroro (Lock and Kuroro have become one once more!): Will Shut wind up with Towa or Mme. Shamour at the end of the day?
Seeing that Towa thanked him for the distraction... there is still a chance for my OTP to be canon.
"SHUT: Even beings born from despair can find a new way and dreams to fight for."
At last he's put it into words, his decision to turn coat. It could not be expressed more sincerely. The new cause he fights for and the epiphany he has had...
And Lock+Kuroro...
"KURORO (LOCK): I'm Kuroro, and now, thanks to Lock, I have control over myself."
So Kuroro and Lock are, like Aguri and Regina, the light and darkness of the same character... the former being the rational and the latter the irrational part of the self. Though here, Kuroro and Lock have finally become one, like the two halves of the Cloven Viscount.
Final remarks: Ranko and Seira getting their own Keys, Shut confirming his new loyalty, the Dysdark backstory revealed, and Lady Dyspear purified with that feast of awesomeness that is known as Grande Libération (for every finishing move just has to be in French). A great episode, but not the last one. Next week, the Hope Kingdom will finally be free... but the Dysdark threat remains.

Since Toei describes Hope and Despair as light and darkness (which is not right imo), the despair forest is still in the Hope Kingdom. This forest is Dyspear's birthplace and the place where Towa was disappeared in her childhood. No one knows how it is formed, how Dyspear creates her subordinates (I mean Close and Shut) and why Dyspear kidnaps Towa instead of Kanata. Honestly, I prefer Toei change the despair forest into hope forest-a forest which produces hope and dreams. With the existence of despair forest, Precures won't stop fighting. That's also why GPPC receive their crystal keys in the future XD.

Dyspear: Failure, Regrets, Ungranted dreams, and Loss of hope... All will be despair. Come! The birth of Despair World!

IN NEXT EPISODE (50, FINAL EPISODE, FINALE FINALE):

The Precures finally return to the Hope Kingdom and free the King and Queen, and all their captive subjects, from the Door of Despair!!!
(Victory Chorus from Verdi's Othello)

After the great victory revels, the Cures part ways...

Towa returns to her kingdom and family...

...Minami helps Asuka care for marine fauna...

...Kirara is leaving for Paris pour avancer dans sa carrière...

However, Close is still around, and he's turned into this fallen angel with creepy glowing eyes...

Will everyone's dreams come true?
